The Best Pulls of the Week – Week of 5.16.22

It was a fantastic week for pulls! Vintage Breaks scored big last week when they hit a 1971 Topps Rod Carew.

1. 2012-13 Panini Past & Present Anthony Davis Auto

Take a BROW! AD may not have been very busy this postseason, but Steel City Collectibles was busy breaking his Rookie Auto during a 2022 Gold Rush Big Cojones Basketball 5-Box Case Break. It was personal for Justin, and he took it, personally. The slab was graded a Beckett 9.5 with a Perfect 10 Autograph. A real Monstar of a hit in this high-end Break Jam.

2. 2008-09 Topps Chrome Lebron James

TAWS. THAT. CHAWK! The Chosen One was ripping chalk during a 08-09 Hobby Box Break on Just Rip It. A throwback to a time when every fan in Cleveland wanted their shirts covered in Baby Powder. It was a base card, but an Ace of a Base card. It was an early hit, ripped in only the second pack in the box. We know Charlie wanted to rip this one, but unfortunately for him a Just Rip It hatted fella broke it! This one’s a “Grader”, and we hope.

3. 1971 Topps Rod Carew

Vintage Breaks gets mad hits like they were Rod Carew. In fact, they hit a Rod Carew! It was the 8th card in the Throwback Pack and was a prize for James C. “A Black Border Beauty” is how J5 described it and he ain’t lyin’. Truly one of the hits you want from the 1/2 century old pack! Freshly cracked from its Slab before the break, the card had great centering, color and was in great shape.

4. 2021-22 Panini Crown Royale Tracy McGrady Kaboom

Another KABOOM! has been ripped into existence. This animated card features an Orlando legend that does NOT work for Disney: T-Mac. David B. had the Magic in this 8 box/half case Pick Your Team Break. Good call. The KABOOM! series is beautiful and Crown Royale continues to stun us with them each year.

5. 2021 Topps Chrome Formula 1 Mick Schumacher Orange Auto /25

WARNING: There are definitely curse words in this hit short. Well worth it though, Blacktie Breaks hit a monster F1 card in this Topps Chrome break. Not just a Mick Shumacher Rookie Auto, but an ORANGE Auto. The Orange Refractor Parallels for this set are out of 25, the only color in the rainbow better is Red which are out of 5 (Green /99, Gold /50 and Gold Wave /50). A great hit in a set that’s burning rubber!
